WE COUNT: BLACK AUDIENCES ARE NO LONGER INTO AMERICAN IDOL....

The Fox network no longer has the wonderful ratings it once had, which was largely attributed to their show-- American Idol, at least not in Black Community. Even though they dare not admit it, black viewers are usually an early indication of the show's future overall.

Facing big competition from CBS' Tuesday line-up, and cable's airing of the NBA Playoffs, Idol failed to make at least the tenth spot on the Top 25 chart of favorites in black households. [American Idol was the No.1 and 2 show for the week in white households.]

BIG DEAL: CBS gained a million more black viewers over the previous week, posting 13.2 million for ten shows and taking most-watched network honors. Fox was second with 8.8 million for seven shows. With no NBA games, ABC fell back to third with 6.7 million watching five of its shows.

The total number of viewers watching the Top 25 most popular shows in black homes, as cited by Nielsen, was 31.8 million, or three percent less than the previous week.
